Have you ever made a book that might go worldwide? Well 3N & 3B made a book filled with our essays. We made it on a website called Tik-a-Tok. All of the kids in third grade have two essays in this book that we made on Tik-a-Tok. A lot of us wrote about how the world can be a happy place even if it isn't as happy as it could be now. But most of us wrote about everyday things like playing your Nintendo DSi,or playing soccer,or even singing with your siblings. When we found out it was going to be a book we were all excited but we also thought it was a big deal!

End Of PSSA's! By Matthew and Eric

For a long time (6 days) 3N has been working on completing the PSSA's (Pennsylvania System of School Assessment) and we are finally DONE! The PSSA's are big tests that you take in 3rd Grade and higher. For us in third grade all we had to do is Math and Reading but some people have to do it for Math Reading Science and more. As a celebration for are finish the 3rd grade got to play the Wii (Sports) together since the day we finished it snowed. If you ever have to take a big test make sure you do your best!

Functional Writing! By Matthew

This blog post is on Functional Writing which is a subject we have been studying in writing. Well, really we have finished this topic in writing but I am writing about it a little late. In this writing unit 3N had to make a how-to. My how-to was on laptops HOW TO USE YOUR VERY FIRST LAPTOP BY MATTHEW. The how-to we made had to have a: -List of Materials -A body (The real how-to) -Plus some pictures that were added after we were done the typing.

Keeping Track of THIS BLOG! By Matthew

When ever you read our posts and follow us it will appear on a Clustr Map. Since we like to find out where our blog has been we will keep track of this Clustr Map with a map of the world. When ever a new dot appears on the Map we have to get a thumb tack and tack the tack to the place or location of the city.

Suffix's By Matthew

In 3N we have been working on learning suffix's. In the past weeks we've been learning all kinds of suffix's and this is how we learn them. Step1. The teacher displays the words we will use and the suffix's. Step2. The students come up and drag a word to the correct suffix. We will also listen to songs sometimes that go with the suffixs.




This is good for kids because it is hands on and that is how most kids learn.

3D By Matthew

As I said in Lines Of Symmetry I am here to post on 3D Shapes. 3N has been studying 3D shapes for a couple of days now. My favorite lesson on the subject of 3D is one where we had to tell the teacher what the  3D shape was that was displayed on the SMART Board.

This lesson on 3D is important because kids should know what shape is which. Imagine calling a sphere a cube!

Lines Of Symmetry By Matthew

Hello! Its me again! Today I am here to tell you all about shapes and their lines of symmetry. In 3N we have been working on Geometry and have started symmetry. 3N has had a couple of lessons about symmetry but I would like to talk about one lesson about symmetry that I liked. As always we had three centers for math, Mrs.Neft, Moodle-Math, and Math Boxes. I liked Math Boxes best because at that station we had to write symmetrical letters with at least one line of symmetry. It was fun.

What is Respect? How can we show Respect?
That’s what I’ll talk about. First, what is Respect? Respect is listening to your parents the first time. This is better for you because otherwise they will have to yell at you.
Respect is not teasing someone. That’s very important even if someone is different you should still be friends with them and you shouldn’t judge them before you know them. Secondly, how can we show respect? Well that’s sort of the same idea as the first question. Listening to your parents, not teasing.
By showing good respect it helps you show some Responsibility. Taking care of your own things, being responsible for your actions, and then of course not teasing. To do that you need to care which leads us to caring.
So now we have Respect, Responsibility, and Caring, All very important parts of character. Respect is pretty much a 3-in-one part of character.
Now do you see the answers to these two questions? Now are you beginning to see and understand at least a little more about respect? If you weren’t before now are starting to see the MAJOR IMPORTANCE of Respect? It is a very, very, very important part of character. An Essay By Matthew

An Example Essay By Matthew

In 3N we have been writing essays as a new unit in Writers Workshop. The students have been learning different ways to write an essay. We have been doing this for four days, this is our fifth day. Her is an example essay

My Cat,
My cat likes to drink running water. For example, when ever I brush my teeth and shes in the same room my cat will jump on the toilet climb onto the sink and stick her head in the water. After that I will have to carry her out of the room and close the door. But as soon as I'm finished our cat (MysticLooks) will jump right back on the sink and drink up.
My cat loves to play also.  As soon as I step foot in the door after school shes right there to greet me. As soon as I sit down to do my homework she jumps at my brothers leg which means "Lets Play!" Then I have to play with her until she figures out that playing with a bag is funner that chasing balls. Then I can finally do my homework in peace. Last of all my cat has big eyes. When ever shes in a corner or when  ever shes in a dark place her eyes will get big, glow, and get all metallic. Or when I'm alone on the top bunk reading she will stand in the doorway and look up at me until I carry her up the ladder.
